Keep factory figures and receiving measurements separate
Volume differences are a recurring question in my customer work. Factory figures support an initial estimate. After E-Ter receives LCL cargo, the WMS laser measurement process records the cartons’ outside dimensions and retains measurement photos. Keep these two sets of data separate when checking a difference.
Bulging cartons change the outside dimensions
The labelled length, width and height may differ from the final packed carton’s outermost dimensions. Bulging, tape, corner protection and protrusions can increase the measured size. Review the packaging and matching measurement photos before discussing the specific difference.
Label each carton before receiving
E-Ter requires company shipping marks and serial numbers on each carton before warehouse receiving. Use continuous numbering for a multi-carton shipment to support counting and later checks. Confirm the marks with your contact before dispatch and keep carton numbers legible.
Confirm data before container scheduling
After measuring, the team prepares receiving data for customer review. Once the customer confirms it, customer service confirms the data in the system and operations schedules loading. Raise carton-count or volume questions at this stage, with the shipment reference and carton number. Price entry and customer data confirmation are separate steps.
Discuss mixed-product cartons before packing
Mixed products may fall into different charging categories. Send the item list to your contact before packing and confirm classification and charging treatment. Final acceptance and pricing depend on the actual cargo and confirmed terms.
